Jumping Beans

Has anyone ever had Mexican jumping beans? Mitch brought a small box of them home for the boys. I had never seen them before. I had no idea it was a larva inside making them "jump". So now the coolness has worn off and all day long I hear the little clicking of them in the box. It's starting to bug me....no pun intended. :-)

Laundry room!

The laundry room took much longer then expected, but it's done! I'm going to do another coat on the doors later today. And I didn't do the cabinets. I'm going to wait on that, but they do have new knobs (not pictured). The blank space is where I am wanting some pic or quote. Also I need to figure out how to hang my mops, brooms etc. They were just leaning against the wall. Ok enough rambling....let me know what you think.

Is this weird?

I have an interesting ability....I think. I'll think of a celebrity out of the blue in my head and think, "I wonder what they've done lately." And soon after I'll see them on TV. Does that make sense? For instance I was watching Can't Hardly Wait the other day and thought about the jock that dumped Amanda. Then I saw him on an Emmy clip the next day.

On a side note I was thinking I need to switch out the DVDs in the car for the boys. We hadn't seen Chicken Little for a while so I thought about putting it in there. We were watching the Disney channel this morning and what comes on.....Chicken Little.

I know I am weird! But this happens a lot. Enough for me to recognize it. Too bad I can't use this for doing good.

Kitchen First!

I know I mentioned painting my laundry room but I got a wild hair and painted my kitchen first. I think it turned out pretty good. It feels much warmer now to go with the rest of the house.

Painting bug

Thanks to a couple friends of mine I now have the painting bug. I'm wanting to tackle our laundry room. It is a nasty shade of peachy pink that this whole house used to be covered in. All of the other rooms have thankfully been painted over. I am thinking of yellow with white trim. I am also looking at some cute quote art. One that stands out is "One load at a time". So this may be my project while my hubby is out of town this week. I think I'll also repaint the trim in the boys bathroom.......I better start a list. :-)

So what's the difference??

So ever since I have moved here (over a year ago) I have mentally noted the differences between Midland, TX and Bakersfield, CA (because I am crazy like that) and have wanted to share them with the people of the world. Brace yourself!

The stop lights are horizontal instead of vertical and you can turn left whenever traffic is clear on a green light. You don't need a green arrow, although they have those too.

You're not cool if you don't have a big metal star on the outside of your house. I have chosen to never be that cool!

The curbs are curved instead of a square edge.

I've never seen so many white F-150s on the road and trucks with a rear windshield guards.

People love to write on their friend's cars with that window chalk. Especially the high school kids. I've even had it done to me on my birthday.

We're on central time so our shows come on earlier. Which is kinda nice since I don't have to stay up as late, but not so nice when the show starts at 7 instead of 8. I'm just not ready to focus at that time.

Texans are not afraid of color! Every house we looked at prior to moving here had color on the walls. And the kids had their name painted on their bedroom wall. We even looked at a house with zebra print carpet. That was awsome!

We live in a bubble here. You have drive 5 hours to get anywhere worth going (i.e Dallas, San Antonio, Houston). I miss going to the beach, the mountains.....anywhere! for a day trip.

High school football is a big deal here, but that's a given.

We have a "loop" that goes around the town. And I have a hard time not calling it a freeway.

I am not used to SO many businesses being closed, opening late or closing early on Sunday.

We have alleys on every street and that's where the dumpsters are for your trash. No individual trash can for each house. But its nice because you never have to remember to take it out to the curb.

A lot of garages are in the alley too. My neighborhood seems to be an exception.

Ok that's all I can remember right now. I'll come back and add pics so those of you in CA can see what I am talking about.
